SUBJECT: Lafayette - LPO Newsletter June 2023

LPO NEWS

Well, here we are at the very end of our 2022-2023 school year! It has been an amazing year!

All parents & guardians are members of the LPO and we all have a lot to be proud of and to celebrate. Here are a few of the highlights from this past school year for the LPO:

Lancer's Landing

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped at Lancer Landing this year! We were able to keep our store open throughout the year, serve our community and raise funds to give back.

Community Events

From the Homecoming Parade, Community Volleyball Challenge and our support of the Special Olympics, LPO and our amazing volunteers have welcomed the community on to our campus and created fun events.

Fundraisers Came Back

Congratulations to the Classes of 2024, 2025, and 2026! A big shout out goes to the Parent Volunteers from those classes who helped raise funds for their senior events. But even more importantly, it has been so fun to bring back our traditional community building events, like the Freshman Carnival, Trivia Night and our Fun Run! Watch for next year, because we are excited to bring back Taste of West County!

Grants Returned

With the success of our Lancer Legacy campaign and Lancer Landing, LPO was able to bring back the grants program that was put on hiatus last year. LPO granted $11,415 to provide student and staff support, help update a 3D printer for the Engineering department, provide black tablecloths for art displays, provide support for our Best Buddies program, purchase an iPad for our Fine Arts Students, and help support students attending Missouri Boys and Girls State.

In addition to those grants, we provided funds to help begin an update for the Library seating and help redesign the counseling office entryway.

Landscape Update

Have you seen the updated landscaping at LHS this spring?   Our successes this year gave us the ability help Lafayette finish the planned landscaping at the front of our school.

Teacher & Staff Support

LPO kicked off our year with a welcome gift from Lancer Landing for our staff, and hosted two conference dinners for our teachers throughout the year. To top off a great year, we just provided a “Happy Summer” luncheon on the last day of school for all the staff.

In addition to that, we provided treats a few times throughout the year to celebrate our amazing teachers.

Senior Activities & Events

The Class of 2023 has been going strong enjoying lots of activities and events to finish out their time at LHS. It will all culminate with graduation on June 3rd and Senior Celebration the night of June 3rd.

Congratulations to all of our 2023 graduates! We wish you all the best for your futures! A BIG thank you to all of our Class of 2023 Parent Volunteers who have been working hard this year on creating these incredible events!

And there is still more to do...

We want to hear from you! We have 2 items we’d like you to review and vote on, as well as get your feedback about what you would like to see next year.

Please use our google form to have your voice heard.

Google form vote for LPO funds and slate

Vote #1 - LHS Library Update

As the 2022-2023 year comes to a close, we are excited at the possibility to provide Lafayette Parent Organization funds to help improve our school community and environment.

After looking at available options and needs as well as available funds, we would like to donate to LHS $15,000 to update our Lafayette Library. A library update would include updated casual seating, tables and chairs and updated group spaces. All students and staff have access to the library and use its resources throughout the year. The library is also plays host to many community events and meetings.

We believe that this use of funds fully supports the LPO mission and encourage you to vote in favor of giving $15,000 for the purpose of updating our LHS Library.
