SENIOR CLASS NEWS
CONGRATULATIONS SENIORS!

CONGRATULATIONS to all of our Seniors as they wind down these final weeks of their high school years. Congratulations also, to all of you who have supported (financially and emotionally), encouraged, studied with and cheered for these kids for the past 13 years. Whether it’s your first graduate or your last, try to soak it in and enjoy these last few emotional and BUSY weeks.

The Class of 2022 was lucky...despite having a “pause” for Virtual Learning during a global pandemic and missing a few traditional events Sophomore and Junior year. Our Seniors had a pretty “normal” year with sports, concerts, dances and an AMAZING SENIOR WEEK! Many Seniors enjoyed a Chick-Fil-a lunch and were so excited to receive Candy grams thanks to the work of Amber Hughes who organized it all!  Thanks to Amber and her crew:  Barbara Rosenbaum, Robin Staub, Lisa Bradley, Dawn Werk, Jen Hall, Caroline Otero-Gilmer, Anita Shawke and Julie Dobson and to Senior Secretary, Karen Barber, the Seniors got some special attention and recognition and an exciting Cardinals WIN on a beautiful day!!!

What’s left on your Senior parent TO DO list?
  • Baccalaureate is a non-denominational worship service offered for the graduating class and their families. The purpose of the service is to express gratitude and honor the students. The students have completed an immense volume of work, have encountered and triumphed over academic, social, and historic challenges.  Please RSVP on the link below if you plan to attend with your Senior (in cap and gown) on Thursday, June 2nd at 7:00 p.m.  The program will last about an hour. Plenty of opportunities for pictures and light refreshments afterward.

  • BLINK-OF-AN-EYE - if you’ve read even one email this year, you know that we are desperately hoping ALL Seniors will have turned in a kindergarten or 1st grade picture so that they’ll be a part of the video shown at graduation and Senior Celebration. Tina has to put it together and May 10th is the FINAL opportunity to turn in a picture.

BLINK OF AN EYE

  • Join the GRADUATES for lots of fun, laughs and memories at Senior Celebration!  Spots still remain for volunteers at the overnight event at Amp Up!

In closing of this, our final email to the Class of 2022 parents, we want to say THANK YOU for being a supportive, helpful, kind and fun group to work with these past four years. From that first freshman parent meeting in the theater until now, less than a month from graduation, the number of texts, phone calls and emails we’ve exchanged, meetings attended and volunteer hours put in seems insignificant to the friendships we developed volunteering with many of you and always having these kids and their success at the forefront of everything we did. We look forward to watching these young men and women cross that stage at graduation and move on to their futures beyond the halls of Lafayette High School!

Best wishes always,

Anita Shawke and Julie Dobson, Senior Class Directors, Class of 2022
