SUBJECT: LHS - LPO Senior Class News - January 2022

SENIOR CLASS NEWS

It is now officially 2022 ----- the year our children will graduate!  Just a warning that it all moves very quickly from here until June. If you’ve been reading any of our emails, you know we’ve been bugging you to get some important things done for your Senior. Well, if you haven’t already, please make it your New Year’s Resolution to do these things:

  1. Turn in your child’s kindergarten (or first grade photo) for the Blink-of-an-Eye graduation video  (See below for more information)    lafayetteblink22@gmail.com

  2. Consider purchasing your tickets to attend the very special Memory Maker events for you and your Senior student.       Memory Maker Tickets

  3. Purchase your Senior Celebration ticket before the next price increase (Currently $65 until January 31st!)        Senior Celebration Ticket

Currently, the Blink of an Eye submissions are at 115 total, which is just under 25% of the Senior Class. PLEASE make this a priority. We have sent the “how to” information in several of our previous emails, but contact Tina Borgmeyer: lafayetteblink22@gmail.com if you have questions.

If your son or daughter will be attending graduation, you will want them to be a part of this.

One more final THANK YOU to the Senior Advisory students: Aashish Allu, Bradley Simmons, Natalia Parr and Pooja Reddy and all of the Seniors and LHS families who helped with or contributed to the Gifts for Glennon toy drive. Over $10,000 in proceeds were collected. Over the past three years, this puts Gifts for Glennon's total contribution at nearly $20,000!

WOW!  What a difference these students will make if they continue this type of service in their future. Now we pass the baton to the Class of 2025.

We thought these next two bits of information were worth repeating as it is “that time of the year” for Seniors! These items were in the recent “Student Services” newsletter sent on Monday, 1/3/22.

College Applications and Transcript Requests

In order to request a transcript be sent to a college, students must fill out a Transcript Request Form. This form can also be found in the College & Career Office. Keep in mind that the office asks for at least 10 processing days per request. Also, when filling out applications, students need to add Mrs. Alex Dusenberry (last names L-Z)  or Mrs. Sarah Hicks (last names A-K) as their Counselor so we are able to send documents to those institutions.

College Scholarships

Our office is constantly receiving information about local and national scholarship opportunities. For a list of those scholarships, please visit the College & Career website. Students will also want to visit the scholarship pages of each of their desired institutions for additional college-specific scholarships. Here are just a few of the scholarships that can be found on our website:

  • Andrew D. Keithley “Make it Count” Memorial Scholarship- due February 20

  • Alpha Delta Kappa, Beta Xi Chapter Scholarships- due February 22

  • A.R.C Angels Foundation Scholarship- due March 25

All School Trivia Night is coming!
  • Save the date for Saturday, March 5th
  • Doors open at 6pm
  • First Question at 7pm.

Watch for information coming about ticket sales/ registration coming later this month! Currently this event is being planned with an in person and virtual option available.

What do we still need?

We need volunteers to help organize the event. Our next trivia night meeting will be Tuesday, January 18th at 7pm in Room 180. Time commitment ranges from night of the event to commitments that will last 2 -5 hours per week until 3/5 depending on the position you are interested in and your availability.

Donations - We will send out a sign up genius later this month with specific donation requests for prizes/ raffle/ auction items as well as drinks, but if you have access to items you would be willing to donate- please contact Sara Robeson at serob23@msn.com. Item ideas include tickets to games or events (Muny, Fox, Cardinals, Blues), a donation of a rental location, donation of lessons or tutoring.... Have your own idea?   Let us know!
